28th September 2016: Concord College runs for the benefit of UNICEF.
The principal of Concord College, Acton Burnell, leads by example. On 9th October 2016, he will be running the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon in London, accompanied by over 50 members of the Concord community: Staff, parents, alumni and current students will join Mr. Hawkins to master the 13.1 miles. Together they will raise funds for UNICEF, the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund.
Last year, the Concord community had already raised 35,000 £ and therefore Mr. Hawkins hopes that the team will do even better in 2016. The goal is to raise 50,000 £ this year. Fingers crossed that the 54 members of the Concord team will be able to achieve it.

10th July 2015: Box Hill School recognised for excellence in Annual Awards.
It was announced on 9th July that Box Hill School in Mickleham has won the Good Schools Guide Award for "The Highest Performing English Independent School for Boys taking Mathematics".
Box Hill School has been presented with this award by the Good Schools Guide for out-performing all other English schools in its category or displaying excellent performance. The prestigious annual awards, which are in their 8th year, are based on a detailed analysis of the most recent examination results, and are designed to highlight consistently good teaching.
Headmaster, Mr Corydon Lowde said, "We are absolutely delighted to be acknowledged in this way for our excellence in maths. This is a very proud moment for Box Hill School and we are sure it will inspire and encourage all pupils who are currently working towards their final examinations in maths."
The Good Schools Guide Awards are based on a series of calculations which take into account relative popularity and performance of the subject, absolute performance, and percentage of pupils taking the subject. It is the largest independent guide to UK schools. The 20th Edition is available now and contains 1100 good schools across both the independent and state sectors.

17th March 2015: Low price, great service: Buckswood School’s new summer school programme.

18th February 2015: Queen Anne's School tries to look teenagers into their heads.
On Saturday, 7th March 2015, the next BrainCanDo-Conference will take place at Queen Anne's School in Caversham in the English county Berkshire. Cordially invited to this event are all students as from the age of 14, as well as their parents and teachers.
The BrainCanDo-Conference revolves around the mysteries of the intellectual world of teenagers in the broadest sense. In numerous workshops, expert talks and practical lessons the attempt will be made to get to the bottom of what happens inside the brains of teenagers. Precisely why participating in the conference is particularly entrusted to parents. Which parents have never asked themselves, what's currently going round in the head of their child?

6th February 2015: Two more students of Sedbergh School join Oxbridge.
Two more students of Sedbergh School in the northern English county Cumbria have made it to Oxford resp. Cambridge.
While one of them will study biological sciences at Lady Margaret Hall College in Oxford, the other one has successfully applied for the subject of study classics at Churchill College in Cambridge. We congratulate the Oxbridge students-to-be on their success, which is above all affiliated to their own hard work, but also in a large part to the excellent school education of Sedbergh School.

6th November 2014: Campbell College in Belfast prepares its students for their future.
For the third consecutive year Campbell College's performance at A level has shown a marked increase of 58% of total entries awarded A*/A or B grades.It was the best result the school has witnessed at A level in the last seven years.
There were particularly strong performances in mathematics and physics at both A level and in the Lower Sixth at AS level, which is a significant achievement in light of the growing economic importance placed on STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subject areas. The output of such strong results in these key growth areas is that 23% of students are expected to secure places at universities for mathematics, engineering or physical science courses.
Furthermore Y13 and Y14 boys set off on a four day trip to Oxford & Cambridge Universities to experience life as an Oxbridge student. The trip has inspired the boys at a crucial point in their education and has also helped them to see the possibilities and opportunities that exist. Staying at Jesus & Exeter College in Oxford and afterwards at Pembroke College in Cambridge, the boys had the opportunity to attend Department and College Open Days.

14th October 2014: Bosworth Independent College presents summer school programmes 2015.
With its summer school programmes 2015, which will take place in the summer holidays, Bosworth Independent College from Northampton submits an attractive offer to all international students from 12 to 17 years. Three different types of programmes can be booked, all of them with a duration of two, three, four, five or even six weeks.
The Intensive English programme comprises English lessons in the mornings as well as team building exercises and a variety of interesting outdoor activities in the afternoons.
The Arts & Crafts programme also contains English lessons in the mornings, but the afternoons are sometimes utilised for art workshops, which take place three times per week. Outdoor activities are on the agenda on the remaining two weekdays.
Finally there’s the Tennis Coaching programme. Again it comprises English lessons in the mornings, but on three afternoons per week professional tennis coaches give lessons, which are available from beginner to competent player.

20th May 2014: Consistently "excellent" - Bruton School rated by ISI.
Bruton School for Girls has received a great Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) Report: In every area judged, the school has gained the highest rating possible. Rated in the range of secondary education and Sixth Form were the quality of achievements and learning, the curricular and extra-curricular provision, the contribution of teaching, the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of the girls, the arrangements for pastoral care, the arrangements for welfare, health and safety, the quality of boarding, the quality of governance as well as the quality of leadership and management.
Headmistress Nicola Botterill commented on the results: "We are thrilled with the results of our recent ISI inspection. As every area is of the highest possible rating we would like to encourage everyone to read the full report. It is affirming for us, as we move further forward, to have such a positive endorsement by an independent body."

23rd September 2013: Queen Anne’s School antedates show jumping tournament 2014
Queen Anne’s School in Caversham near Reading has recently announced that the annually happening show jumping tournament will have to be antedated next year. However the place of event hasn’t changed. The tournament will take place in the renowned riding centre Wellington Riding as scheduled.
In preference to the initial date on 29th September, 2014, the new date for the tournament was termed on 6th July 2014. At the same time already received registrations were transferred from the old to the new date. Thus it can be avoided, that participants, who already have signed in for the old date, have to sign in a second time for the new date. Of course Queen Anne’s School continues to accept new registrations.

14th May 2013: Merger of Sedbergh and Casterton Schools takes shape
In the course of the merging of the two boarding schools Sedbergh and Casterton, Sedbergh School has now announced that the school in Sedbergh can bid many school girls from Casterton School near Kirky Lonsdale welcome already at the beginning of the summer term. The close collaboration of both school administrations is believed to guarantee that the transfer of the girls from Casterton to Sedbergh School will pass without any problems.
The furnishing of Carus House, a new boarding house for the school girls, is believed to be completed during next summer vacation. By the Easter holidays the upgrading of Queen’s Hall was finished, where the dining hall of the junior school is situated and which is now also believed to be transitionally used as a dining hall by the senior girls from Casterton.
Therefore the venerable mixed-gender Sedbergh School appears to be well prepared for the early addition in school girls from Kirkby Lonsdale. The school also works flat out in the next weeks to make all necessary arrangements for keeping to provide its school girls and boys excellent study and living conditions.

28th April 2013: Buckswood School offers bagpiping classes in the future
In the current issue of its newsletter “What’s new” the Buckswood from Guestling near Hastings, East Sussex, has announced that the school will offer bagpiping classes to its school girls and boys, starting in September 2013.
The boarding school, which is located more than 600 km (resp. 420 miles) away from Scotland, has also proclaimed that the Scottish national musical instrument is now also the official musical instrument of the school. As a full time music teacher Buckswood School’s music department could win the bagpiping professional Mr. Stuart Cumming who can teach interested girls and boys play bagpipe.
Recently Buckswood School has also poured into its boarding houses. Currently many rooms in Milne, Kipling and Wells House are transformed into en suite rooms. The reconstruction work is believed to be finished until December 2013. This means that 90% of all rooms are expected to be en suite rooms by the end of this year.
